Meet Ellie
Ellie transitioned to padel after a background as a professional tennis player. From her first sessions, she was drawn to the sport and quickly made the switch, embracing the tactical and technical demands of padel.
Today Ellie is one of the most recognisable padel coaches in the UK — known online as That Padel Girl, she has built a growing community of players and followers who come to her for practical, no-nonsense coaching advice and a refreshingly honest take on what it takes to improve at padel.
She is a certified coach with the British Padel Coaches Association (BPCA) and remains an active LTA-registered tennis player — a combination that gives her a unique perspective on the crossover between the two sports and what players transitioning from tennis to padel actually need to work on.
Coaching Locations
Ellie coaches across multiple venues in the North West of England:
The Padel Republic, Wallasey — Female Head Coach

Velocity Padel, Widnes

Coaching Philosophy
Her coaching approach centres on control and consistency. One principle she often shares is that playing at a slower pace leads to better consistency and decision-making on court.
“Playing at a slower, controlled pace improves your on-court decision-making. Master control first — the power follows.”
This is a philosophy that cuts against what many new padel players instinctively try to do — hit harder and faster. Ellie’s approach is the opposite. Master control first. The power follows naturally once the fundamentals are solid.
When it comes to coaching content, Ellie believes in keeping things clear and practical. Posting regularly, staying consistent, and focusing on short tips that solve common problems helps players learn without overcomplicating things.
Her favourite shot? The forehand volley — a choice that says everything about her emphasis on control and net presence over baseline power.
Growing Women's Padel
Community is an important part of Ellie’s work, particularly supporting the growth of women’s padel. She is passionate about creating safe, supportive spaces for female players, including women-only groups where players can connect and encourage one another.
As Female Head Coach at The Padel Republic in Wallasey, Ellie is actively building the kind of environment she believes every padel venue should offer — one where women at every level feel genuinely welcomed and supported rather than an afterthought.
What's Next
Looking ahead, Ellie is focused on helping players improve while continuing to develop her own game. She remains committed to competing and is working towards becoming one of the leading female padel players in the UK.
With a growing social media presence, multiple coaching venues, a head coaching role and an active competitive career, Ellie is one of the most exciting names in UK padel right now. Keep an eye on @that.padel.girl — and if you are in the North West, get on court with her.
